Description

Sh2- 86 is an emission nebula in constellation Vulpecula with an apparent diameter of about 40' (arcminutes). The nebula contains some interesting pillar-structures and Bok globules. If is assumed that the nebula is ionized by the Vulpecula OB1 association.

Sh2- 86 is a fairly northerly target for the Namibian steppe, but was far enough away from the moon in winter.

Oliver Schneider, Faried Abu-Salih and I work together as "DSI (Deep Sky Imaging) Team" at our observatory at the Rooisand Desert Ranch, Namibia.
